Questions, answered.
What teachers actually want to know before they sign up.
What is Classentra?
Classentra is a modern workspace for independent teachers running live courses. Sessions, materials, assignments, attendance, messaging, and AI prep, all in one place instead of six tabs.
Who is Classentra for?
Independent teachers, tutors, coaches, music and language instructors, and small academies who run live courses and want one calm workspace instead of juggling six tools.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Classentra runs in your browser. Students and teachers just need a link.
Can my students pay me through Classentra?
Yes. Paid courses are built in: set a price on your course, students check out online, and payouts land in your own Stripe account via Stripe Connect. You can also keep courses free and invite students with a join code. Payments are always optional.
You're in beta. What does that mean for me?
It means we ship updates fast and you get a real say in what we build next. Your data is safe, your courses are stable, and our pricing won't surprise-spike. Occasionally you might hit a rough edge. When you do, email us and we usually fix within days.
Do students pay anything?
No. Students never pay Classentra. The subscription belongs to the teacher account; students join through invite links or join codes.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan gives you 2 courses with 30 free roster spots (students who pay $30+ through Classentra checkout never count and are always unlimited) on your own Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams account. Paid plans start at $39/mo (Educator) for unlimited courses, unlimited students, a lower all-in fee, and advanced selling tools. No credit card to start.
Can I use Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams for live sessions?
Yes. Every tier, including Free, lets you connect your own Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams account via OAuth. Classentra generates the meeting link for each session automatically. Native in-app live classes are coming soon as an optional $19/mo add-on on any paid tier.
Do I have to talk to a sales rep to see pricing?
No. Every plan and every transaction fee is on the pricing page. No forms, no demo theater, no 'contact us for a quote.' Most people are signed up and running their first session inside ten minutes.
Is Classentra an LMS or a TMS?
Both. Most platforms branded 'LMS' are async content libraries. They assume students press play and you press send. Live teaching needs the TMS half too: instructor scheduling, attendance, session logistics. Classentra ships TMS + LMS in one product so you don't bolt a video tool onto a course platform.
Are there usage surcharges I should know about?
No. Predictable pricing with no active-user surcharge, no implementation fee, no minimum seat count. Creator-sold courses pay an all-in per-charge transaction fee (card fees included) that runs 9% + 30¢ on Free and 6% + 30¢ on any paid plan. That's it.
How does pricing work for organizations vs individual teachers?
Individual teachers self-serve on Free, Educator, or Studio and pay a simple all-in fee only on what they sell. Organizations that need multi-seat management, SSO, and compliance features use a dedicated talk-to-us path, so you get org tooling and a quote scoped to your headcount instead of a per-seat list price.
Does Classentra replace my course platform?
If your course is live-first (recurring sessions, attendance matters, assignments are graded), yes. If your course is fully self-paced video playback and you don't run live sessions, Teachable / Thinkific may fit better.
Can I migrate from Teachable, Skool, or Thinkific?
Yes. From Skool, export your member list and paste it into your course roster with Import from CSV; every member gets an invitation email. Posts and lessons move by hand, and we help with that. For Teachable and Thinkific we do white-glove CSV migration: we move your content and students for you.
Does Classentra just embed videos, or is there a way for students to practice?
Practice loops, not just videos. Assignments tie to sessions, rubrics tie to assignments, AI drafts feedback you review and send, and the gradebook tracks mastery over time. Course completion ≠ knowledge retention. Classentra makes the application half of learning a first-class workflow, not an afterthought.
Is the AI an add-on or built into the product?
AI-native, not AI-bolt-on. Announcement drafts, quiz generation, study-help streaming, redacted note suggestions, and action-log summaries all live inside the workflow they help, not in a separate chat sidebar grafted onto a legacy LMS. Every AI tool has an explicit token quota per plan and shows up in your usage dashboard.
