LMS for Australia

An Australia-first LMS. Privacy Act 1988 aligned. AUD pricing.

Most managed LMS vendors run a US privacy posture and quote in USD. Australian RTOs, schools, and independent teachers absorb the FX and have to bridge the Australian Privacy Principles themselves. Classentra ships Privacy Act 1988 + APP-aligned data handling, an OAIC-ready data-processing agreement, AUD-native checkout, and optional regional hosting on the Company tier — set up in 5 minutes on public pricing.

What Australian teaching teams deal with

American LMSs ship a US privacy posture and an FX-laden invoice

Most managed LMS platforms were built for the US and bolted on for Australia. The privacy policy talks about CCPA and HIPAA but not the Privacy Act 1988 + Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). The OAIC's Notifiable Data Breaches scheme is nowhere on the page. For Australian RTOs, schools, and corporate training providers, that's an immediate procurement friction point — and one that takes a DPO and a lawyer to resolve.

Pricing is the second pain. The page is in USD, your invoice is in USD, and you absorb the FX spread plus cross-border card fees on every renewal. Learner-facing checkouts in USD also depress conversion for AUD-priced courses — Australian learners abandon when the checkout currency doesn't match the marketing currency.

Classentra ships Privacy Act 1988 + APP-aligned data handling on every plan, an OAIC-ready DPA on the public legal page, AUD-native Stripe checkout with GST handled, and optional Australian/regional data hosting on the Company tier. Public pricing, no multi-year contract, no procurement marathon.

What Australian teams get

Six things an Australia-first LMS should ship

Every feature below ships today. Australian data residency and signed bespoke DPAs are Company-tier add-ons — talk to sales for the procurement-reviewed deployment.

Privacy Act 1988 + APP aligned

Default data-handling posture aligns with the Privacy Act 1988 and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles. Collection, use/disclosure, data quality, security, access/correction — all documented in the privacy policy on every plan.

OAIC-ready DPA, public

Data-processing agreement published on the legal page, drafted to OAIC guidance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme baked in. Most Australian customers sign as-is or with light redlines. Company tier supports bespoke DPAs.

AUD pricing + Stripe checkout

AUD-native checkout via Stripe. Subscriptions invoiced in AUD; GST handled by Stripe Tax. No USD invoices, no FX spread on renewals, no cross-border card fees on the learner-facing checkout. Public pricing page lists AUD rates.

Regional data hosting (Company tier)

Company-tier organizations can pin learner data to Asia-Pacific hosting regions for residency requirements — useful for RTOs, K-12 schools, public-sector procurement, and any organization with Australian data-residency obligations. Live video routes through the nearest regional edge.

Education-friendly content

Gradebook, rubrics, certificates of completion, parent reports, blended in-person + live-online sessions. Same product Australian RTOs, schools, and independent teachers use to run VET courses, tutoring cohorts, and corporate L&D.

No multi-year contract

Monthly and annual billing on public pricing. No 3-year framework, no procurement marathon, no implementation consultancy retainer. Cancel at any time; export your data in CSV. Same product whether you're 1 teacher or 500 seats.

FAQ

Common questions about running an LMS in Australia

Is Classentra Privacy Act 1988 compliant?
We align our data-handling practices with the Privacy Act 1988 and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) — open and transparent management, anonymity, collection limitations, use/disclosure, data quality, security, access and correction. Our privacy policy and DPA are public. Privacy Act compliance is ultimately the entity's (your) responsibility — Classentra is the processor — and we provide the tooling, documentation, and contractual commitments you need.
What about the OAIC Notifiable Data Breaches scheme?
Our breach-notification workflow is designed to meet the OAIC's Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme expectations. If an eligible data breach occurs, we notify customers in a timeframe that lets them meet their own NDB obligations to the OAIC and affected individuals. The workflow is documented in the DPA on the legal page.
Can I keep learner data in Australia?
Default hosting is in the US (Vercel + Neon Postgres, North American regions) with standard contractual clauses for international transfers. Asia-Pacific data residency — learner records, course content, and gradebook pinned to AP hosting — is a Company-tier feature for organizations with residency requirements (RTOs, K-12 schools, regulated industries, public-sector procurement). Talk to sales for a residency-pinned deployment.
Is the pricing in AUD?
Yes. Visiting the pricing page from a regional CTA defaults to AUD pricing; Stripe Checkout invoices in AUD with GST handled by Stripe Tax. The CTA appends a currency hint (?cc=AUD) so checkout starts in the right currency. No FX spread on renewals, no cross-border card fees on the learner-facing checkout.
Will this work for an RTO under ASQA?
Yes — Classentra ships gradebook, attendance, certificates, blended in-person + live-online sessions, and SCORM-1.2 ingest (Company tier) used by Australian RTOs running VET courses. ASQA oversight of regulated providers is your responsibility; Classentra is the LMS, not a curriculum or compliance-audit product. Talk to sales for an RTO-tier deployment with SSO and a custom DPA.
Can I migrate from Moodle, Canvas, or Thinkific?
Yes. CSV imports for users, courses, and gradebook; SCORM-1.2 ingest on the Company tier for legacy course packages; a Thinkific/Teachable migration tool for community-style platforms. For a complex Moodle migration with custom plugins, talk to sales — most Australian customers rebuild high-impact courses inside Classentra so the live-session + auto-attendance flow works end-to-end.
