LMS for language schools

The LMS for language schools that outgrew italki

italki and Preply are great marketplaces; they are not the LMS your school runs on. Classentra ships native live video, conversation drills, per-student progress, parent reports, and certificates in one workspace — designed for the language academy that wants its own brand, its own pricing, and its own data.

K-12 pricing + parent/COPPA/FERPA notice

K-12 institutional pricing starts on the Team tier ($2,400/yr for up to 50 students). Parent-observer accounts, COPPA mode, FERPA DPA, and Clever/ClassLink rostering are available on the Company tier — talk to sales before rolling out below 13s or to a public district.

What language schools stitch together

A marketplace is not a school

Most language schools start on italki, Preply, or Cambly. The marketplace gives a steady stream of new students; in return the school surrenders the brand, the pricing, and the data. A teacher who builds a roster wakes up to a competitor in the same marketplace charging less. The school never quite owns the relationship.

Schools that try to leave the marketplace stitch together Zoom + Calendly + Stripe + a Google Doc per student. It works for a single teacher; it breaks the moment you have five teachers, a parent asking for monthly progress, or a corporate client buying 30 seats. The stack has no shared state and no per-student progress view.

Classentra is the LMS shape language schools need to own their operation. Live video built in (no Zoom round-trip), conversation drills tied to the session, per-student progress and parent-readable reports, certificates with public verification, and Stripe Connect billing routed to your bank. Build the brand, keep the data, own the relationship.

What you get

Six capabilities language schools actually need

Every feature below ships today. Parent-observer accounts and COPPA mode for under-13 learners are Company-tier add-ons — talk to sales if minors are the majority of your roster.

Live video native

Native Daily / LiveKit sessions — no Zoom round-trip. Recordings auto-save to the student's page so they can replay last week's conversation drill. Attendance auto-captures per session.

Conversation drills + AI feedback

AI-drafted vocabulary drills tied to the session topic; the teacher reviews and assigns. AI-drafted feedback on written submissions you review and send — half the grading time on essays.

Per-student progress + CEFR-style tracking

Each student has a personal progress timeline — vocabulary mastered, sessions attended, grammar covered. Tag against CEFR levels (A1–C2) or your own framework. Promote per-session notes to parent-shareable reports.

Parent + sponsor reports

Per-month or per-term progress summary per student. Share via signed link (no parent account needed) or PDF. Works for parents of minors and for corporate clients sponsoring a roster.

Multi-teacher + cohort scheduling

Assign teachers per cohort or per student. Granular roles — owner, teacher, learner. Group cohorts (8–12 learners, weekly live) and 1-on-1 students live in the same workspace.

Materials per language + per level

Course-level reading lists, drills, listening exercises, and slide decks. Drip-schedule by week or unlock manually. Tag by language and CEFR level so a new teacher inherits the curriculum, not a blank Drive.

FAQ

Common questions from language schools

Are you a replacement for italki or Preply?
italki and Preply are marketplaces — they bring new students in exchange for taking your brand, pricing power, and data. Classentra is the LMS your school runs on once you've built a roster you want to own. Most schools we work with run both for a while: marketplace for top-of-funnel, Classentra for everything after the first paid session.
Can students book and pay through Classentra?
Yes — Stripe Connect billing on Pro + Business with 0% Classentra platform fee on Pro. Students can pay per session, per pack, or per cohort. Payouts route directly to your bank. For monthly retainer billing or scholarship workflows, you can also pair Classentra with a separate billing tool.
Do you support CEFR-level tracking?
Yes — tag progress against CEFR levels (A1–C2) or build your own framework. Per-student progress timelines roll up by level so a parent or sponsor sees concrete movement, not just hours of attendance.
Can we run conversation drills inside Classentra?
Yes — native live video for the conversation half plus AI-drafted vocabulary drills tied to the session topic. Teachers review and assign; learners practice between sessions. Half the prep time on drills.
Are you COPPA compliant for under-13 learners?
Classentra runs under a PIPEDA-aligned + GDPR-aligned DPA on every tier. COPPA mode (no marketing emails to minors, parent-consent gating on signup, age-gated AI features) is a Company-tier toggle. If minors are the majority of your roster, request the K-12 packet before signup so we can pre-configure your tenant.
Can corporate clients sponsor a roster?
Yes — corporate sponsorship of seats fits the multi-teacher + cohort model. The sponsor gets a per-term progress and attendance report per sponsored learner. Stripe Connect or invoice billing both work. On Company tier the sponsor can have a dedicated client-admin login for their roster.
