LMS for music schools

The LMS for music schools that outgrew MyMusicStaff

MyMusicStaff is a great booking + invoicing tool for a single teacher. It is not the LMS your music school runs on as you scale to ten teachers, a recital program, and parents asking for monthly progress. Classentra ships repertoire libraries, recital scheduling, practice logs, and parent reports in one workspace — designed for the music academy that wants room to grow.

K-12 pricing + parent/COPPA/FERPA notice

K-12 institutional pricing starts on the Team tier ($2,400/yr for up to 50 students). Parent-observer accounts, COPPA mode, FERPA DPA, and Clever/ClassLink rostering are available on the Company tier — talk to sales before rolling out below 13s or to a public district.

What music schools stitch together

A booking tool is not an academy

Most music schools start on MyMusicStaff, Fons, or a Calendly + Stripe + Google Doc combo. It works for a single teacher with 20 students. The seams show when you have eight teachers, a recital program twice a year, parents asking for a monthly progress note, and a competing conservatory poaching your better students.

Generic LMS tools (Canvas, Schoology) want to sell to districts and don't know what a repertoire library is. TopMusic Pro and similar are great pedagogy resources, but not the operating system. The shape in between — multi-teacher, repertoire library, recital scheduling, parent reports, certificates — has no obvious tool, and most schools default to a spreadsheet that nobody trusts.

Classentra is the LMS shape for the music school. Each student has one page: lesson history, current repertoire, practice log, recital assignments, materials, and a parent-readable report. Each teacher sees only their assigned roster. The director sees everyone. No spreadsheet stitching.

What you get

Six capabilities music schools actually need

Every feature below ships today. Parent-observer accounts and COPPA mode for under-13 learners are Company-tier add-ons — talk to sales if minors are the majority of your roster.

Repertoire library per student

Track current pieces, status (introduced → in progress → polished → performed), and metadata (composer, level, ABRSM/RCM grade). Search across every student and every teacher in the school.

Recital + group-class scheduling

Schedule recitals across the school, assign students to pieces, manage rehearsals. Parents see their student's slot; teachers see their performers. RSVPs roll up automatically.

Practice logs + assignments

Per-student practice logs with weekly minute targets and progress against goals. Teachers assign exercises tied to the current repertoire; students log practice between lessons.

Live video + recorded lessons

Native Daily / LiveKit live video for online lessons; in-person lessons log attendance via teacher confirmation. Recordings auto-save to the student's page — useful for parents reviewing the teacher's notes.

Parent reports + recital programs

Per-month progress summary per student — pieces worked on, practice minutes, recital assignments. Share via signed link (no parent account needed). Print recital programs from the workspace.

Multi-teacher + role permissions

Assign teachers per student or per studio. Granular roles — owner, teacher, learner, parent-observer (Company tier). Teachers only see their assigned roster; the director sees everyone.

FAQ

Common questions from music schools

Are you a replacement for MyMusicStaff or Fons?
MyMusicStaff and Fons are booking + invoicing tools with light lesson notes. Classentra is the LMS + delivery + progress + parent-report half. Schools we work with either replace MyMusicStaff outright (Stripe Connect handles invoicing) or pair the two (MyMusicStaff for parent billing, Classentra for delivery). Both paths work.
Do you handle ABRSM / RCM / Trinity grading?
You can tag repertoire pieces with ABRSM, RCM, Trinity, or your own framework. Per-student progress timelines roll up by grade so parents see concrete movement. We don't ship a built-in exam-prep workflow yet — that's a teacher-curated piece for now.
Can we run recitals inside Classentra?
Yes — schedule recitals, assign students to pieces, manage rehearsals, and print a program from the workspace. Parents see their student's slot in the parent-readable view. Live-stream the recital via the native video and recordings save automatically.
Can parents see practice logs without an account?
Yes. Per-student progress reports include the weekly practice minutes and current repertoire. Share via signed link (no parent account required) or PDF. Dedicated parent-observer logins are a Company-tier add-on.
Are you COPPA compliant for under-13 students?
Classentra runs under a PIPEDA-aligned + GDPR-aligned DPA on every tier. COPPA mode (no marketing emails to minors, parent-consent gating on signup, age-gated AI features) is a Company-tier toggle. If minors are the majority of your roster, request the K-12 packet before signup.
Can students pay tuition through Classentra?
Yes via Stripe Connect on Pro + Business with 0% Classentra platform fee on Pro. For monthly retainer billing or family-account invoicing across siblings, many schools pair Classentra with MyMusicStaff or a separate billing tool.
